Sex:Positive
Challenging society's negative attitudes about sex
If you want to live in a world which is more open and honest about sex and relationships, celebrates sexuality and embraces individuality then join the Sex:Positive campaign.
Brook’s young volunteers have created Sex:Positive to take a stand and challenge society’s negative attitudes about sex.
Join us in challenging a world where some people behave like sex is taboo, or stereotype all young people as risk takers and irresponsible, yet at the same time, deprive them of the vital information they need to empower them to make safe and healthy choices.
A Sex:Positive future is in your hands - PLEDGE TODAY

- Being SexPositive is very important.
Listening to everyone's view on Sex no matter their age and never judging anyone on their opinion.
People are constantly learning about sex and the advice and services that Brook offer will help people to carry on doing this.
I pledge to do what I can to be SexPositive and to encourage others around to do so as well.
POSTED 15 Sep 2011 - Denice S - Sex is a natural and healthy part of human behaviour. Our sexual journeys are personal and diverse and this difference should be celebrated and talked about frankly and honestly. Regardless of nature of the sex we intend to have, we have the right to access information which helps us to understand fully the consequences of our actions and the right to choose, without pressure or fear of discrimination, which path we want to take. If we emphasise the benefits of good, healthy sex over the potential consequences of risky or unwanted sex then hopefully we will all enjoy sex positively!
POSTED 2 Sep 2011 - Ed H - It's 2011, not 1911. We must allow people of all ages to be who they want, and that includes allowing young people to develop their sex and personal lives in their own way free from taboo, stigma and judgement as part of a healthy, progressive society.
POSTED 26 Aug 2011 - James S - I pledge to make this a Sex:Positive world and help the movement!!!!
POSTED 25 Aug 2011 - Yessica R - I will pledge to spread the word about the campaign accross the children and young people's workforce in Oldham through Oldham Children and Youth Alliance.
POSTED 24 Aug 2011 - laura W - Too often, young people are offered only a narrow view of where their sexuality and sexual relationships should lie. Therefore, inspired by my brilliantly defiant sister (who refuses to be pigeon-holed by others' small-mindedness), I pledge to support a future in which all young people are treated fairly, in a fully inclusive, Sex:Positive society, where an open mind is the least we can offer to young people just starting out on the path to a fulfilling, happy sex life.

I pledge to stand up for young people's sexual rights in the House of Lords.
POSTED 11 Feb 2011 - Lord Alli - Brook’s Sex:Positive campaign is fantastic because it challenges negative attitudes about young people, sexuality and sex. It gets issues out into the open, it’s easy for everyone whatever their age to get involved and we really hope it makes a positive difference. We’re JLS and we’re supporting the campaign for a Sex:Positive future.
POSTED 11 Feb 2011 - JLS - I will support the Brook campaign by speaking whenever I can in Parliament or to individuals about the need for positive sexual health for all young people

Personhood
Lucy Schultz worked as a young volunteer with Brook London last year. Here, she gives us a flavour of sexual health issues in America from a blog that she wrote in November - we hope to bring you more of these letters from Lucy throughout the year. Growing up in New York City and now attending Brown University, two of the most liberal places in the country, I sometimes forget just how terrifyingly conservative the United States can be.

Our first week
My name’s Jack. I’m one of the new volunteers on the sex:positive campaign. I volunteered to write this blog, trying to usefully participate considering how much time I normally sit around on tumblr, and have been mulling over how to make this as interesting as possible to our followers.
