The Broadcast Committee on Advertising (BCAP) – Part of the Advertising Standards Authority – have suggested in their public consultation to update advertising guidelines around condoms. In 2007 young people involved in a peer research project at Brook decided to survey their peers about condom advertising on TV which has informed the suggested changes. Brook has launched a new version of our Have fun, be careful poster to remind young people that if they are planning a night out that might include sex to make sure they're ready and that they really want it.
The poster reminds young people that if they do decide to have sex to use condoms to protect against unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections and advises them to contact the Ask Brook confidential helpline (0808 802 1234) for advice, support and information about all aspects of sexual health.
