Every year Brook runs the UK’s leading, policy-led sexual health conference and awards. This event is designed to bring together professionals from local and national government, education, health, social services, the police and the voluntary sector to debate approaches to promoting safe sex and to strengthen knowledge and skills, so that all professionals have the confidence to protect young people and their rights. The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the fantastic work professional are doing all over the UK to support young people.
Brook’s conference and awards took place on Thursday 5 March at The Brit Oval Conference Centre, London. The theme for the conference was Safeguarding young people’s right to confidentiality: the law and best practice.
The conference was chaired by Polly Toynbee, Journalist and writer, and keynote speakers included:

• Andrea Duncan, Programme Manager – Sexual Health and HIV, Department of Health
• Simon Blake, Chief Executive, Brook
The presentation of The Brook Awards 2009 took place after the conference and celebrated the outstanding work young people and professionals are doing to improve the lives of young people all over the UK.
