Brook runs a unique network of 17 centres across the UK, delivering innovative services, designed with the help of young people. The centres provide contraception, advice, and counselling to young people about sexual health, as well as outreach, education, and satellite services in response to local need. All centres work within a quality assurance framework which ensures that Brook's services for young people are consistently the best.
The Brook central office in London provides strategic leadership and vision to the network of centres across the UK. It oversees the national quality assurance programme and best practice, and undertakes advocacy, campaigning, communications and policy work on behalf of the network. Brook seeks to influence opinion formers and the public about the reality and complexity of young people's lives, and to encourage a climate and culture in which young people's sexual health issues can be discussed openly and positively.
Brook runs a national Young People's Information Service which acts as a signposting service to inform young people about sexual health services in their area. It provides basic information and support on sexual health topics such as contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, abortion and sexually transmitted infections. Young people can ring the freephone Helpline or send a question through 'Ask Brook', a confidential on-line enquiry service via the Brook website. They can also get details of local services texted direct to their mobile phone.
Brook also produces a range of publications for use by teachers, parents, youth workers and young people themselves on a broad range of sexual health issues.
