Sexual health
BISH is a guide to sex, love and you for everyone over 14. It’s for people who are (or are thinking about) having sex and relationships.
NHS common health questions: sexual health - a really in-depth list of NHS pages based on common sexual health questions.
NHS: sex and young people - sexual health information from the NHS about bodies, puberty, staying safe and confidentiality.
NHS’s Worth Talking About helpline provides advice on contraception, sexual health and relationships for young people. You can reach them on 0300 123 29 30, Mon-Fri, 2pm-8pm Sat-Sun 2pm-4pm.
National Sexual Health Helpline - if you would like to talk to someone about a sexual health issue, you can call the national sexual health helpline free on 0300 123 7123. Your call will be treated with sensitivity and in strict confidence. The Sexual Health Helpline is open from 9am-8pm, Monday-Friday.
Relate is the UK's largest provider of relationship support, including support around sexual problems (if you’re over 18) to speak to a counsellor, including webchat and e-mail support.
The Family Planning Association provides information about contraception, STIs, pregnancy and abortion.
The Sexual Advice Association provide information about sexual conditions and how you can deal with them, including erection, premature ejaculation, low sex drive, difficulties with orgasm, vaginal dryness and more.
Scarleteen is a sexuality and relationships education website. It’s based in the US, so a lot of the information about health services is not relevant for UK-based people, but it has lots of in-depth articles and fact sheets about sexual health.
FPA sexual health helpline (Northern Ireland) - call on 0345 122 8687, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (except bank holidays) for information on sexual health and clinics and non-judgemental advice. You can also call this number to make an appointment with Pregnancy Choices and Post-Abortion Counselling Service (in Northern Ireland).
Revenge Porn Helpline - 0845 6000 459 - open from 10.00am - 4.00pm, Monday to Friday. Emails can be sent at any time to help@revengepornhelpline.org.uk. Call for free, confidential advice and support, which may include removal of images online.
Respect Yourself is a site about sex and relationships for people aged 13 years old and over. All of the content has been requested directly by young people.
Abortion
The British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) can be contacted on 03457 30 40 30 – or you can email them at info@bpas.org
Marie Stopes UK on 0345 300 8090 (open 24 hours) or request a confidential call back via their online form.
The National Unplanned Pregnancy Advisory Service on 0845 359 6666 – alternatively, individual clinics also have their own local numbers you can call, or you can fill in a confidential enquiry form on the PAS website.
General help and support
ChildLine offers a confidential service for children and young people up to the age of 19. You can call a ChildLine counsellor about anything at any time, on 0800 1111, or via online chat or email
The Mix is the UK's free, confidential helpline service for young people under 25 who need help, but don't know where to turn. The Mix’s Crisis Messenger text service is available 24/7 and open to anyone aged 25 or under living in the UK. If you’re in crisis and need to talk, text THEMIX to 85258.
MEIC Cymru is a helpline for children and young people up to the age of 25, in Wales. Call 0808 8023456
FamilyLine provides a free national telephone and email support for people of all ages with parenting or personal issues and another helpline - I Need Help -specifically concerned with giving young people a safe place to talk through the complex challenges they face. Call 0808 800 5678 from 9 am to 5 pm weekdays.
General health and wellbeing
NHS Choices is the online front door to the NHS. use it to look up conditions, symptoms or medicines or to search for any health service in England
Mental health support
YES - Youth Enquiry Service, Jersey offer online advice, one-to-one counselling and drop-in services for young people in Jersey. Call Free on 0800 735 0121
Young Minds is a national charity offering information to young people under 25 about mental health and emotional well-being. Call 020 7089 5050
Youth Access is the largest provider of young people's advice and counselling services in the UK. Call their helpline on 020 8772 9900
The NSPCC aim to put an end to child cruelty; they offer help, support and child protection services. Call 0808 800 5000
CALM- the Campaign Against Living Miserably, was set up to prevent male suicide and provides support to boys and men. Call 0800 585858
HIV and AIDS
HIV i-Base is a treatment activist group committed to providing timely and up to date information about your HIV treatment in non-technical language. Call their phoneline on 0808 800 6013, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 12-4pm.
Terrence Higgins Trust or THT is the largest voluntary sector provider of HIV and sexual health services in the UK. Their helpline - THT Direct is available between 10am and 8pm from Monday to Friday on 0808 802 1221 0808 8021 221
Positively UK provides support to those living with HIV, including specialist support for young people. Call them on 020 7713 0444
Gender identity support
Gender Trust offers support for all those affected by gender identity issues. Call them on 01527 894 838
Mermaids UK provides family and individual support for teenagers and children with gender identity issues 08443 340550. Mobile only - 03443 340550
The Beaumont Society is a national self-help body for trans women and those who cross-dress 01582 412 220
LGB support
Switchboard LGBT+ Helpline provides an information, support and referral service for lesbians, gay men and bisexual and trans people – and anyone considering issues around their sexuality and/or gender identity. Call them on 0300 330 0630
Pregnancy support
Marie Stopes is the leading independent provider of sexual and reproductive health services in the UK including abortion care and advice. Call their 24 hour helpline on 0345 300 8090
British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) are an independent healthcare charity which advocates and cares for women and couples who decide to end a pregnancy. Call their helpline on 03457 30 40 30
Rape and sexual abuse
Life centre supports survivors of rape and sexual abuse and their supporters. Their adult helpline is 0844 847 7879 and their under 18s helpline is 0808 802 0808
Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre runs a national freephone helpline, open every day, on 0808 802 9999
Help with crime or legal matters
Coram Children’s Legal Centre provides free legal information, advice and representation to children, young people, their families, carers and professionals
Scottish Child Law Centre offer free legal advice service on all aspects of Scots law relating to children and young people. Call 0131 667 6333
Crimestoppers are there for you to give information anonymously by phone, on 0800 555 111 or online, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
