Have Fun Be Careful - Valentine's 2010
Whether you have got a big date planned or you just want to have a night in with your mates, there's seems to be no escaping the hype around Valentine's Day.
So, our team of young volunteers wanted to create something that helped young people to feel more comfortable talking about sex and relationships, at a time when they feel there is more pressure to have sex than other times of the year.
The objective of this campaign was to normalise talking about sex and to make young people feel more confident. This z-card uses humour and a fun design to let young people know that it's ok to talk about sex and gives them a few suggestions to help them to bring the subject of sex up too.
Have Fun Be Careful - December 2009/January 2010

Building on the success of last years' December and January campaign we have a brand new December and January campaign to alert young people to the increased risk of unplanned conception at this time.
The design of the December and January posters was really well received in 2008 so we decided to keep them similar to last years', with a bit of extra magic!
This year, we have also produced Christmas postcards which carry the same messaging as the December poster, but can be used in a fun way and have a condom attached as the prize. These enable young people to take the Have Fun Be Careful message away from the setting where they may see one of our poster campaigns. They also bring the safe sex message home by having an actual condom attached.

We also launched our long-term partnership with Drinkaware in December. We worked together to create a party season survival pack which carries the Have Fun Be Careful messaging. The pack contained £2 mobile phone credit, to help recipients get home safely and stay with their friends, and some condoms, so that they can protect themselves if they choose to have sex. The pack also has some specific messaging about sex and alcohol. This pack really brings the Have Fun Be Careful message to life and makes sure that the message has direct influence when young people are out and about.
During December and January www.brook.org.uk/havefun will be launched to support the Have Fun Be Careful campaign. The page will have an online quiz which will help to raise awareness and promote understanding of the Have Fun Be Careful message - anyone that enters the quiz will have the chance to win an ipod.
If you would like to order copies of the new posters or postcards please visit the resources section of this site.
Have Fun Be Careful - Alcohol and Sex
We have created this version of Have Fun Be Careful because we are aware that young people are more likely to regret having sex and less likely to use contraception when alcohol is involved.

The poster reminds young people that alcohol can affect their judgement and encourages them to think about their ability to assess sexual health risks when they have been drinking. It asks them to make sure that they are having sex when they are ready, to remember to use a condom if they choose to have sex and to contact the Ask Brook confidential helpline (0808 802 1234) or visit www.brook.org.uk if they want to find details of their nearest sexual health clinic.
To compliment the posters we have produced some leaflets which carry more detailed information and messages about sexual health and alcohol. These leaflets can be folded into 'fortune tellers' and so can be used in a fun and interactive way.
If you would like to order copies of this poster and some 'fortune teller' leaflets please visit the resources section of this site.
Have Fun Be Careful - Planning a good night out?

Following the success of the Have Fun Be Careful campaign in December and January, we have launched a more Have Fun Be Careful which can be used all year round.
The poster reminds young people to always carry a condom on a night out if they think that they might want to have sex, and to use it if they choose to have sex. It also asks them to contact the Ask Brook confidential helpline (0808 802 1234) or visit www.brook.org.uk if they want to find details of their nearest sexual health clinic.
If you would like to order copies of this poster please visit the resources section of this site.
Have Fun Be Careful - December 2008/January 2009

Our Have Fun Be Careful campaign was launched in December 2008 in response to the increased in unplanned teenage conceptions in December and January of each year.
Six years of data from 2000 to 2005 inclusive show that there is a peak every year in the under 18 conception rates during December and January. On average, rates for those months are some 8% higher than the average rates of other months with about 21,000 conceptions among under-18s in these months between 2000/05.
We launched a poster campaign to highlight this increased risk, reminding young people to use condoms and advise them to contact the Ask Brook confidential helpline (0808 802 1234) or visit www.brook.org.uk to find details of their nearest sexual health clinic.
