Fundraising tips and ideas from Brook

We're sure you have lots of ideas about how you might raise funds for Brook, but just in case, here are some top tips to get you started.

1. Create your own Brook fundraising page

Visit www.justgiving.co.uk or www.virginmoneygiving.com and click on 'make your page'

Tip from Brook's top fundraiser last year, "Always ask someone to donate a fiver, some people get put off by all the big donations!"

2. Ask everyone and send reminders

If you are doing a sponsored event, ask as many people as you can think of to sponsor you, some people might surprise you! Make sure you send a couple of reminders in the lead up to the event and when you've completed the event too.

Use your social networking sites, put it on the end of your emails, shout it from the roof tops!

3. Ask with pride

Feel proud that you are raising money for such an exciting cause and share your reasons for choosing Brook.

Top reasons for chosing Brook:

  • Brook wants to give young people the skills to negotiate safer relationships
  • Many young people have low self-esteem and don't have the confidence to take control of their sexual health and wellbeing
  • Young people often tell us that they are having sex that they don't enjoy or don't feel ready for
  • Growing up can be a tricky and confusing time and many young people don't know where to turn for confidential advice
  • Brook values all young people and their right to enjoy their sexuality without harm

4. Remember Gift Aid

Please ask your supporters to Gift Aid their donation, so that Brook can claim 25p in tax for every £1 donated. With Gift Aid, a donation of £10 can be turned into £12.50 and it won't cost the donor another penny.

5. Ask about match-giving

Ask if your employer offers a matched-giving scheme, through which they will pledge the same total again as you raise for Brook.

6. Use your vest space

If you're running for Brook, there will be some white space available on your running vest, so perhaps see whether a business will sponsor you or your group to have their logo printed there.

7. Ask us

Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help, perhaps you would like more leaflets about who Brook are and what we do, or need some paper sponsorship forms, whatever you need, just ask and we will try our best to help!
