About this Event

Talking to young people about their sexual health can be a challenging experience. In this training, we draw on our 55 years of expertise of talking to young people about their sexual health and provide a comprehensive overview of the information that you need to know in order to work effectively in this area.

Delivering RSE isn’t easy for everyone, this training offers a comprehensive introduction to help you develop the confidence, knowledge and skills to plan and deliver good quality relationships and sex education.

Aim

To equip teachers with core knowledge and a framework which they can build on to deliver high quality effective RSE which ensures the best outcomes for young people in ways that work best in the real life context of their school.

By the end of the training participants will:

  • be able to summarise the mandatory requirements of RSE
  • recognise the impact of personal and professional values on RSE delivery
  • have clarified/acquired professional values which support the delivery of effective RSE
  • be able to describe the range of topics to be covered in a spiral RSE curriculum which meets mandatory requirements
  • be able to describe different teaching structures to deliver RSE
  • be able to create a safe learning environment for students and setting clear boundaries
  • be able to plan and structure an effective RSE lesson
  • be able to describe an increase in skill and confidence in teaching sensitive issues and establishing clear boundaries around RSE content
  • recognise the importance of a whole school approach to RSE and the importance of providing support to young people outside the classroom
