If you have really painful periods along with painful sex, heavy bleeding and wider pelvic pain, then you may have endometriosis. Endometriosis is a chronic condition that causes cells like those found in the lining of the womb to grow elsewhere in the body. In the UK, endometriosis affects 10% of people with wombs, and it can have a major impact on their lives. It can cause long-term (chronic) pain, as well as problems with fertility and pregnancy.Getting a diagnosis can be hard – in fact, it takes an average of 8 years for people with endometriosis to get a diagnosis. Keeping a log of your symptoms can be helpful if you`re going to see your GP, and you can ask to be referred to a specialist.
Did you know that men are far less likely than women to visit their GP? Many men feel a bit spooked talking about their body, and stereotypes about masculinity hold them back from seeking help. At Yuno, part of our work is to empower people of all genders with information about their bodies and their health, so they can feel confident seeking help if something changes. It’s really important to get to know your body, check regularly, and find out what’s normal for you. This will make you more confident about going to your GP if you notice something’s different.
What should you do if you test positive for an STI? First off, don’t panic! Most STIs are fully treatable, and you can access free treatment through Yuno. If you did a test at one of our clinics, or via a Yuno self-test kit, one of our friendly clinicians will be in touch soon to discuss your options. If you’ve tested positive for gonorrhoea or chlamydia, we can also anonymously let your sexual partners know for you.If you need or want to let a partner know yourself, you should do so as soon as possible so that they can get checked out.Above all, remember that an STI doesn’t define you. Getting a positive result means you can get treatment, which means you’re in charge of your sexual health. That’s something to be pretty proud of!
Vaginal discharge keeps the vagina moist, clean and healthy. It cleans the vagina by getting rid of dead skin cells and bacteria 🦠 Not only is vaginal discharge nothing to worry about – it`s actually a sign that everything`s healthy and working as it should. Getting to know your body, and what`s normal for you, is really important. It means that you`ll easily notice any changes in the future, so you`ll know if you need to speak to a doctor or nurse.

They can also signpost you towards other sexual health services, such as your local Yuno clinic. To celebrate spooky season, over the next week we’ll be showing you there’s nothing scary about sexual health! 👻 We’ll talk you through some concepts that often make people feel a bit uncertain, and show you that there really is nothing spooky here.First off, cervical screening. This check-up is offered to women and people with a cervix aged between 25 and 64. Like any medical procedure, it’s completely normal to feel a little worried before your screening – particularly if it’s your first time. Knowing what to expect when you go for your appointment can make a real difference if you’re feeling nervous, so swipe for our step-by-step guide.
Never wash inside your vagina!🧼 This includes ‘douching’, or flushing water up into it. Washing inside the vagina removes helpful bacteria and changes its acidity. This can lead to the development of thrush or bacterial vaginosis. Scented wipes and vaginal deodorants can also disrupt the healthy balance of the vagina. You should wash your vulva gently every day using mild unperfumed soap. This avoids upsetting the pH balance of the vagina.
