In 2024, the number of consultations at sexual health clinics reached 5.4 million, a 55% increase since 2013. The Local Government Association has warned that, with funding challenges, sexual health services are struggling to meet this high demand.
At the same time, young people’s emotional wellbeing is in crisis with 1 in 5 experiencing an issue such as anxiety, depression, an eating disorder and self-harm. Mental health safeguarding concerns continue to be prevalent within Brook’s services.
In the face of these challenges, Brook remains committed to developing innovative ways to expand our reach and support more people than ever.
We expanded into new geographical areas in 24/25, working with partners to provide services at the heart of communities.
We continue to work closely with those who face access barriers, helping educate and empower people to take charge of their sexual health and providing dedicated services and resources that respond to particular access needs.
Our participation forum members and volunteers contribute to the development and evolution of our services, resources and campaigns, ensuring that everything we do is accessible, inclusive and responsive to diverse needs.
At Brook, we pride ourselves on responding to the changing landscape in which young people operate both online and offline. We have developed new resources to counter harmful messaging to which young people may be exposed and supported teachers to navigate complex and challenging topics.
