What lessons are included?

Whether you work in a mainstream or special school or alternative learning provision, RSE For All lessons are designed to improve accessibility to pupils with a broad range of SEND including sensory/social needs, additional processing time and those who are overwhelmed by fast-paced, large group discussion.

Lesson Aim: To be able to recognise healthy and harmful relationships and behaviours in a range of relationships, including friendships

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify examples of healthy relationships and describe the qualities that make them positive and respectful.
  • Recognise positive and negative behaviours within relationships, including friendships.
  • Understand a range of strategies to deal with harmful behaviours.
  • Know where to get help and support.

Lesson Aim: To develop the knowledge needed to stay safe and well online and to seek help and support

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognise the benefits and risks of being online.
  • Understand what wellbeing means and why it is important.
  • Understand that online content and activity can affect wellbeing.
  • Describe strategies to support wellbeing and stay safe online.
  • Know where to get help and support.

Lesson Aims: To support young people in positively managing the physical and emotional challenges of puberty and to develop self-care skills.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define what puberty means.
  • Understand that everyone will experience puberty differently.
  • Identify key puberty changes, including menstruation. 
  • Explain ways to look after our bodies and keep them clean.
  • Know where to get help and support

Lesson Aims: To be able to recognise healthy and harmful relationship behaviours in a range of relationship types, including friendships and romantic relationships

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand that people have different needs and boundaries in relationships.
  • Recognise qualities which we should look for in healthy relationships.
  • Recognise positive and negative behaviours within relationships.
  • Learn strategies for responding to unhealthy relationship behaviours.
  • Identify forms of relationships abuse, including controlling or coercive behaviour.
  • Know where to get help and support. 

Lesson Aims: To explore the term consent in the context of everyday life and within relationships

Learning Objectives:

  • Define the term consent.
  • Recognise that the legal age of sexual consent in the UK is 16 and the law relating to consent.
  • Recognise consent in terms of freedom, capacity and choice.
  • Practice communicating consent using verbal and non-verbal language and body language.
  • Understand that consent can be withdrawn at any time.
  • Identify myths about sex, sexual violence, rape and consent.
  • Know where to get help and support.

Lesson Aims: To improve understanding and acceptance of the diversity of relationships, identities, and experiences – including LGBT+ diversity, neurodiversity and disability – while promoting inclusivity, equality, and respect.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand what makes themselves and others unique, including strengths, interests, and important aspects of identity.
  • Recognise the importance of kindness, care, trust, equality, and mutual respect in all relationships, including LGBT+ relationships.
  • Describe the contribution of neurodiversity and disability to healthy relationships and the role of kind and respectful communication in meeting everyone’s needs.
  • Explain the harmful impacts of stereotyping and how to promote equality, inclusivity, and respect for all.
  • Know how get help and support. 

Lesson Aims: To help students understand healthy relationships in online spaces, including how to manage pressures relating to youth produced imagery

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognise healthy and unhealthy behaviours in different types of relationships, both in person and online.
  • Identify respectful and disrespectful behaviours in online communication and relationships.
  • Understand the risks of sharing sexual images and how to respond to pressure to share them.
  • Explain your rights and responsibilities when creating, receiving, or sharing digital content.
  • Know where to get help and support.

Lesson Aims: To introduce the topic of sexual health for all, including how to prevent pregnancy and STIs, and empower young people with knowledge and skills needed to access sexual health services

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe what sexual health is and what it includes.
  • Explain what contraception is and how it works.
  • Identify some of the most common STI symptoms.
  • Demonstrate how to use a condom correctly (using a demonstrator).
  • Describe how contraception and condoms can reduce the risk of unplanned pregnancies and STI transmission.
  • Describe how to access local health and support services.

Lesson Aims: To develop critical thinking skills around sex & the media including pornography.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop critical thinking skills around viewing sexual media including pornography.
  • Think about why the reasons people might choose to watch, or not watch, pornography.
  • Recognise that there is diversity in bodies, relationships, sexual desires, gender and sexual identity that is not always represented through media and pornography.
  • Understand pornography and the law.
  • Develop skills to maintain healthy relationships.
  • Know where to get help and support.

Frequently Asked Questions

One one purchase needs to be made per school. The email that is used to buy the course will be the one that is used to access the lessons on Brook Learn. You can share this log in details with another member of staff or you can choose to download all the lessons and share via email.

If you’re a Multi-Academy Trust or want to buy access for multiple schools, please get in touch with us at training@brook.org.uk so we can explore pricing options with you. 

Upon payment, the lessons will be immediately downloadable from our Brook Learn platform using the email you used to buy the courses. You can choose to download all the lesson documents from there or you can log in as and when you need them.
