The Brook Cornwall Education Wellbeing Team delivers relationship and sex education to young people, professionals training and more

Professional Training

Our free training sessions for professionals working with children and young people offer support and expert guidance on specialist topics relating to RSE – including Porn, Sexting, Child Sexual Exploitation, Sexuality and Gender, chlamydia testing, C-Card, RSE for Foster Carers, RSE for young people with SEND, RSE for facilitators, among other relevant subjects that can be purchased.

RSE Workshops

Brook provides participative, informative workshops in schools and other settings aimed at generating evidence-based discussion around sex, sexuality and relationships. These sessions increase young people’s knowledge and provide them with the vocabulary and skills to communicate with their peers, parents and professionals.

PSHE Curriculum

Brook Cornwall provides lesson plans and resources for schools in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to deliver up-to-date, safe and effective PSHE for years 1-13.

Commissioned by Cornwall Council, with contributions from the Headstart Kernow team funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, the curriculum has been designed and quality-assured by subject-matter experts at Brook and brings together a variety of materials from organisations specialising in PSHE topics.

Chlamydia Screening Programme

Brook run the Chlamydia Screening Programme in Cornwall. The programme is aimed at young people aged 15-24. The Education team run this service in partnership with our clinical colleagues. Brook Cornwall train organisations and educational services to provide testing kits to young people to reduce the incidence of undiagnosed Chlamydia in Cornwall.

C-Card Programme

Brook Cornwall runs the local C-Card programme to young people aged 13-24, offering young people the opportunity to register for a C-Card and get free condoms and lube across various outlets in Cornwall. As part of the process for registration young people are taught about healthy relationships, condom use, consent and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as well as contraception. Brook Cornwall train outlets across Cornwall to provide registration and distribution services to young people.

Menopause Support

Brook’s new Menopause Support Programme in Cornwall empowers those experiencing menopause to feel supported to remain in work or return to work.

Brook’s Menopause Wellbeing Programme ‘MyLife’ in Cornwall can support anyone experiencing the perimenopause or menopause with the knowledge, skills and values to understand what the menopause means for them and ways to self-manage their symptoms and changes to relationships, work and self.

Brook offers free webinars and training for local businesses in Cornwall help them support employees affected by menopause.

If you are passionate about or interested in sharing your experience of the menopause, we’d love to have you on board as a part of our Participation Group.

Our Menopause Project is dedicated to improving the experience of menopause for everyone, and our Participation Group plays a crucial role in making sure that happens.

Programme to empower volunteers with the knowledge and tools to champion menopause wellness and advocacy in the workplace.
