collaborative work with schools

The majority of Brook’s wellbeing and mental health work in Central Bedfordshire will take place with a limited number of preselected schools each year to support them to build a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing. (These schools are preselected and currently there isn’t the opportunity to refer your school)

We will work collaboratively with each school to identify areas of support through a needs assessment and using this, work with the school to to establish an action plan, timeline and programme of support.

As such, our support to each school will be bespoke and may include all or some of the below:

These sessions are delivered to groups of selected young people to help support them to improve and manage their mental health and wellbeing.

Sessions include topics such as:

  • Physical mental and social elements of wellbeing and health
  • Stress
  • 5 Ways to Wellbeing
  • Getting help
  • Support networks

We offer two 1:1 programmes for young people where the young person meets with a Brook Specialist.

  • MyLife: A goal-based early help intervention programme where the young person guides the sessions around what is most important to them. It may include elements of mental health or sexual health education.
  • Mental Health Literacy: These sessions are specific to mental health and wellbeing.

These are only available to the schools that have been selected. If you work at one of these schools and would like to refer a young person, please follow our referral pathway. We will then meet to discuss the programmes with you and the young person to work out what would be best for the young person.

Support schools to develop their own peer-led wellbeing support programme that is meaningful, sustainable, and underpinned by the quality framework. The programme may include young people becoming young health champions.

Facilitate networking opportunities between schools to share good practice and offer advice and guidance.
