HYP Southwark operates a free and confidential service for people aged 24 and under in Southwark, offering sexual health screening, contraception, pregnancy testing and wellbeing support.

Free condoms

C-Card is a free and confidential condom distribution scheme for young people aged between 13-25. One you’re signed up, you’ll be able to get external and internal condoms and lube for free from a number of outlets.

If you’re 24 or under, you can get tested for STIs at any of our clinical services for free.

You can also request an STI home test kit online or pick one up from a number of locations. It’s quick, easy and completely confidential.

How can HYP Southwark help me?

HYP Southwark brings together a skilled and experienced team from both Brook and Change Grow Live.

Our front line team includes reception workers, wellbeing support workers, nurses and young people’s resilience workers. All staff are trained to support young people with their general health and wellbeing in addition to supporting them with their sexual health or around their use of drugs and alcohol.

Whatever is going on, our friendly team will support you with whatever you need, even if you’re not sure exactly what that is yet. All of our services are free and confidential.

We offer:

Free condoms

The C-Card is a free and confidential condom distribution scheme for young people aged 24 and under living to enable safe and easy access of external condoms, internal condoms and lube.

To access free condoms you will need to register with the scheme by accessing your local C-Card provider.

Once registered, you will be provided with a keyring card that has a unique number and on it to enable you to access condoms more easily as you will be able to present the keyring to any of the services identified on the map below and receive condoms.

Free STI testing

Young people aged 24 and under can access confidential, safe and easy access to testing and treatment for STIs from HYP Southwark.

You can also get a free STI home test kit from Sexual Health London. Postal kits are sent directly to the address you provide, and you can then send the test back in the free post envelope provided. testing is a simple and non-invasive urine test or vaginal swab that you complete yourself. All results are sent to you confidentially.

Brook recommends testing two weeks after unprotected sex (sex without a condom) to ensure an accurate result.

Please note:

The current testing kits supplied are only suitable for vaginal swabs or urine samples. If you have had unprotected anal or oral sex we recommend that you contact a clinic directly so that we can ensure you are provided with the appropriate testing.

COVID-19 Update

HYP Southwark services are still running for young people aged 24 and under.

We usually offer walk-in services at the below venues. However, to keep our staff and visitors safe HYP Southwark is currently offering phone appointments during which referrals to a face-to-face service will be made if necessary.

Making a referral

To refer a young person to one of our services, please fill out this online form.

We will endeavour to respond to referrals within 2 working days where possible. Referrals are monitored from Monday to Friday, 9-5. Depending on the information you provide, a member of the team will be allocated the referral and will be in contact either with yourself or the young person directly.
