Challenging inequality in 2024/25

Breaking barriers for people in the criminal justice system

Barbed wire

At Brook we are committed to removing barriers to sexual health support.

As part of this work, we delivered an innovative programme of training for staff at HMP Erlestoke to equip them with the knowledge and skills to better support prisoner’s sexual health and wellbeing. Covering the subjects of STIs, LGBT+ Awareness and Consent, the training aimed to remove the stigmas associated with sexual health, while also helping to create a safer and more inclusive environment.  We also produced a podcast and training video for prisoners with details of how to seek further support outside of prison.

We continue you to provide support for young people involved in the criminal justice system. In Camden and Islington, Brook has partnered with the Youth Justice Service, delivering our My Life one-to-one wellbeing programme for young people in the two London boroughs. In Cornwall, Southend and Teesside we have provided probation and youth justice service staff with C-Card training, helping improve access free condoms.
