Daniel talks about the changing role porn has played in his life so far, and what he thinks about its impact on young people.
I don’t know exactly the first time I watched porn but it would have been around 10 or 11. It was all curiosity and everyone was doing it. I first found it when I was exploring on the TV guide and it just came up. It was weird to watch it. It was weird that it felt good. It didn’t feel strange that the women were much older.
Around this time boys were always talking about it, they would have it on their phones and everything. There was even a kid who would sell porn from his phone in the school corridors. He got caught and excluded. People were sharing all different types of videos, they were pretty hard core.
Porn was the first time I really started learning about sex. I was 17 when I first had sex so I had about 6 years of porn leading up to it.
Sex education for us was awful though, no one took it seriously and if they did they would get the piss taken out of them. When they are really young they should put a focus on contraception because it is basically never used in porn. When I first started having sex I never thought about contraception I was more interested in just doing it.
Porn and real sex are very different. I did expect sex to be similar to porn but it obviously wasn’t.
Porn is like, professional. With sex it’s more awkward when it’s your first few times. Porn has definitely made me feel bad about myself. The male actors are totally huge and it definitely makes you insecure.
I think people are inspired by porn when it comes to sex. It can obviously make couples want to explore more. I don’t really use porn for inspiration I just use it to get off. There is so much porn that is very dark; it is ridiculous how many types there are.
It was probably within a year that I was coming across some really crazy videos, it is so easy.
I am sure some people will find it quite damaging and it will probably cause a lot of issues. I think it depends on the person, some people will see stuff and want to do it in real life.
