Brook Chief Executive Simon Blake appointed to lead National Union of Students (NUS)

Today, Eve Martin, Chair of young people’s sexual health charity Brook, announced that Chief Executive, Simon Blake will be leaving Brook on 30 April 2015. He will be moving on to take up the position of Chief Executive of the National Union of Students. 

Eve Martin said:

During almost nine years as our Chief Executive, Simon has been a strong and inspirational leader, steering Brook through a huge change programme, bringing together all of the Brook charities into one high quality organisation working with thousands of young people every day. His commitment to ensuring we are a robust and forward-thinking organisation and his passion for young people’s participation and improving young people’s lives has been a hallmark of his time at Brook. I am delighted he is going to NUS, an organisation which also trusts and values young people. I and my fellow trustees wish him all the best for the future.

Simon Blake said:

It has been a real privilege to work for Brook; I have loved my time here and am proud of what we have all achieved together. Having led the organisation through such a huge change, I believe now is the right time for a new Chief Executive to lead Brook through the next phase of growth and development.

The Brook trustees will begin the search for a replacement Chief Executive immediately and Deputy Chief Executive, Jules Hillier, will be appointed as Interim Chief Executive from 1 May 2015 during the transition period.

Eve Martin continued:

Brook has a brilliant and highly motivated staff team and I know they will rise to the challenge of a change of Chief Executive, continuing to deliver their very best for young people. I am also confident that Jules will make a strong and trustworthy interim Chief Executive.
