Young people of Somerset have been funded by Somerset Public Health to create LifeHacks for Mental Health.
The project aimed to engage with young people in Somerset to help build their resilience, and improve their self-esteem and emotional literacy. A diverse group of young people volunteered to come together, following a series of focus groups exploring mental health.
The group spent time together talking about mental health and how it affects them. A key theme that emerged from the sessions was that young people were desperate for knowledge about how to help themselves and their friends with mental health issues.
Through working together the group realised that Mental Health is something you DO, not something you HAVE. As a result the group worked together to create two sets of LifeHacks:
heir overall aim for this resource is to help all young people help themselves, and their friends, take action for positive mental health.
The Little Book of Mental Health LifeHacks is packed with ideas and links to support your own mental health and includes true stories from people who’ve tried them out.
The Little Book of Mental Health LifeHacks to support a friend is packed with ideas and links to support your friends’ mental health and includes true stories from friends who’ve tried them out. This booklet has all the details and is great to share with others who need it.
